MHS Alumni Association Newsletter

April 21, 2003 - MILO

Dear Fellow Alumni:

Another year has passed and as always I sincerely hope you had a happy and prosperous one.

The annual M.H.S. Alumni banquet and meeting will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2003 at Penquis Valley High School cafeteria on West Main Street in Milo. There will be a social time from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. with punch, coffee and appetizers prior to the supper. A Welcome Coffee and Registration will be held at the Milo Town Hall dining room on Saturday from 10:00 a.m., hosted by Shirlene Ladd.

Last June scholarships were presented to Jason Smith, Michael Grindle, Megan Russell and Brooke Hamlin - all either children or grandchildren of M.H.S. alumni. There is room on your registration form to include a donation to the Scholarship Fund if you so desire.

The class of 1948 (55th) and the class of 1953 (50th) will hold their class reunions on July 5th. They will meet at noon at the American Legion Hall. They will be having a luncheon along will the classes of 1949-1952. A room has been reserved at the Penquis Valley High School for an informal gathering in the afternoon, and then they will join the rest of the M.H.S. alumni for the evening social time and banquet. The class of 1963 (40th) will be held at the Down East Home Bed and Breakfast owned by Gary and Sylvia (Osgood) Black, 51 Elm Street in Milo on July 5th from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. Details will be mailed to classmates. The contact person is Lois (Grindle) Trask (207) 943-2515 or e-mail: ftrask@midmaine.com. The class of 1961 will hold a class reunion at the Schoodic Lake cottage of Sherrill (Megquier) Costa on July 5th. For more information contact Karen (Horne) Clark at (207) 943-2634 or e-mail: karenhclark@yahoo.com. The class of 1968 (35th) will be mailing reunion details to the classmates very soon.

The 2000 Alumni Directory is available locally for $5.00 or $6.00 if mailed. The 2003 Supplement of address changes is free and will be available at the time of the banquet. Please remember to notify us of any address changes and provide us with your e-mail address if you would like to have it in the directory.

We are going to have a very special treat for brief entertainment after the annual meeting. The locally famous Smith Brothers will perform some of their music for our enjoyment. I have seen them before and they are GREAT!!

The classes of 1963 and 1968 are collaborating on a dance that will be held at the Milo Town Hall from 8:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. after the banquet on July 5, 2003. There will be a disc jockey playing our old favorites. Tickets will be $5.00 and you can purchase them at the door.

We are all looking to seeing you in July. Even if you can't join us, please don't forget to send your dues. This is our primary means of paying for the expenses involved with keeping this association running. Believe it or not, fewer than half of our membership pays their annual dues, and it's only $2.00. That's really a small price to keep us afloat. Every year we get a little smaller as our loved ones pass on.

Please send your banquet reservation form back to us by June 21st so that we can get a head count for the meal. Mail any and all correspondence to Lorraine Schinck, 27 Park Street, Milo, ME 04463.

Sincerely,
Frank H. Cochrane
