Community Concert Band to PerformJune 01, 2003 - TRCCommunity Concert Band to Perorm in 23rd Annual R.B. Hall Music FestivalDOVER-FOXCROFT – The Community Concert Band under the direction of Arnold L. Poland will perform at the 23rd annual R.B. Hall Day community band festival at 2pm on June 28th. By proclamation of the Governor, the last Saturday in June is set aside to honor the memory and music of Robert Browne Hall, a native son who achieved regional renown as a bandsman and composer in the late 19th century. Fifteen of Maine's community bands will participate in a daylong continuous performance of band and concert music. Lincolnville Band will host this year's event at their new community bandstand in Breezemeere Park on Norton Road, off Route 173 in Lincolnville Center, in Waldo County. The event will be held rain or shine from 8am to 6:40pm Saturday, June 28th. The public is invited. Admission and parking are free. This is an opportunity for the whole family to enjoy the sounds and sights of a real Maine tradition, a summer concert at the bandstand in the park.The Community Concert Band is in rehearsal on Friday evenings from 6:30 to 8 pm at the Foxcroft Academy Music Room in Dover-Foxcroft. An open dress rehearsal will begin at 6:30 pm near the flagpole at Thayer Parkway (senior housing) off Park Street in Dover-Foxcroft on Thursday, June 26th and all residents and the public are invited to attend. On teh off-chance of rain, the rehearsal will be held in the Academy Music room.There are still openings for clarinets, trombones, saxophones, trumpets, baritones and other band instrumentalists. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun and public service of instrumental band performance.
