D-F : Center Theater

June 11, 2007 - TRC

Before we embark on our most ambitious month of movies thus far, I wanted to
thank everyone who has helped to bring the Center Theatre back to life. Trying to list everyone, from financial contributors, volunteers and customers to our hard-working and under-appreciated town employees would require that everyone have a broadband connection. So please accept this thank you and let me tell you what you have done for the community.

As a result of your support, the Center Theatre is open full-time with a full-schedule of programming. It is exciting to see the town vibrant and alive on show nights and to see the restaurants crowded with patrons.

Since work began on the Theatre over six years ago, we have spent hundreds of
thousands of dollars in the local community. The Theatre has created jobs and is working hard to give residents a reason to spend their entertainment dollars locally. But not only that, we are bringing dollars into the community. Looking at addresses on checks we are seeing people coming to the Theatre from Bangor, Millinocket, Farmington and the coast. Thank you for building something that invites people to come to our town.

Of course, there are growing pains. When the Theatre fills up it can be hard to find parking space downtown and that can complicate life for other businesses. To try to fix this situation, you will soon be seeing more signs downtown asking theatre-goers to park elsewhere. Please respect these signs if you are going to the Theatre and leave the spaces for those folks who aren't lucky enough to be seeing a show at that time.

We are always interested in hearing your suggestions. Many of our events have been well received, but others haven't been successful. Our successes mean that we're breaking even, but we would love to hear from you what should be seen at the Theatre.

The Theatre office is open from 10am-2pm weekdays and usually longer. Please stop in to say hello, share your ideas and let us thank you in person.

We're looking forward to seeing you for Spiderman 3, Shrek the Third, and
Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End. We're also planning a classic film for the end of the month, so if you have any suggestions please let me know.
