LaGrange Veterans Monument - Memorial Pavers

October 28, 2006 - TRC

The LaGrange Veterans Monument Committee was formed in October of 2005 for the purpose of erecting a permanent granite honor roll with the names of all LaGrange Veterans.

This monument will be the focal point of our new park that is located between the fire station and the town office. Thanks to the generous donation of time and materials from Turtlott Construction and Thibodeau Construction , we now have the basic groundwork done on our park. It is our hope that everyone will come to not only enjoy our park but to also honor the sacrifices that our veterans have made.

We sent letters to the LaGrange High School alumni asking for donations and also information on our veterans. The response has been tremendous, not only monetarily, but more importantly weíve had the opportunity to share in the memories of some of our veterans and their families. Anyone having any information on any veterans from LaGrange who served from the Civil War to the present time, please contact Marlene Stanley at 943-2564 or e-mail mastan52@msn.com

We have been busy these last few months with many fund-raising activities, such as the sale of pens, bottle drives, raffles, and an auction. Currently, we are taking orders for memorial pavers which will be incorporated into the park upon itís completion. If you would like to purchase a paver with your veteranís name on it please contact us at the number above.

Also donations may be made to the LaGrange Veterans Monument Fund at P.O. Box 76, LaGrange, Maine 04453 or at Camden National Bank in Milo.

(A picture of one of the styles of pavers is posted in the TRC Maine photo album in the Veterans Monuments album on page 2. It's well worth a look.
A pdf order form will soon be available on the Lagrange Government / Town Office page. You are encouraged to call the Stanleys with any questions and to honor your veteran with an order for a paver in his or her memory. Izzy)
