From the desk of Milo Town Manager, David Maynard, re: Milo Special Town Meeting, May 7 at 6:00pm

The Town of Milo is holding a Special Town Meeting to advise Milo Voters of the final plans for the Main Street "Safe Streets" Project that, subject to Voter approval at this meeting, will go to bid on May 8, 2013 and construction in mid-June, 2013. This is to authorize the acceptance of grant funds, and the expenditure of those funds, to carry out this project. No local property tax dollars are proposed to be used for this project.

The Voters will also be given an overview of the proposed road and, some utilities subject to funds available, to undertake the actual development of our Eastern Piscataquis Industrial/Business Park (EPIP). This is to authorize the acceptance of grant funds, and the expenditure of those funds, to carry out these projects. No local property tax dollars are proposed to be used for these projects.

For each of these warrant items, there will be a presentation of the proposed work to be done, a public hearing discussion of the proposed work and an up or down vote as to whether the Voters authorize acceptance of the funds and construction of the projects, to the extent of funds available to do so.

This is a very important meeting for the Voters, residents, business people and taxpayers of the Town of Milo. Your attendance and support is critical to the turn around of the economy of Milo. If you do nothing else this year for your community, please make the time to come to this meeting and make your voice heard.
