Milo Police Department Reminder

April 09, 2013 - TRC - By Damien Pickel, Chief of Police

In partnership with our community, we pledge to enhance the quality of life in the Town of Milo by ensuring; the protection of life and property, the preservation of peace, the protection of individual rights, and the reduction of crime.

With the upcoming Spring Recess and end of the school year, it is recognized that the instances of extra-curricular, alcohol related activities are likely to increase.
I am posting some reminders about the penalties attached to underage drinking in an effort to inform minors, parents, and friends. Hopefully this info can be shared and deter alcohol related activities and illnesses of minors...and possibly save a life !
Illegal Possession:
It is a civil violation for any person under the age of 21 to possess liquor or imitation liquor except if it is within the scope of their employment or in their home in the presence of their parent. Fines for illegal possession are as follows:
- 1st Offense $200 to $400
- 2nd Offense $300 to $600
- 3rd or Subsequent Offenses $600
Illegal Transportation of Liquor
No person under the age of 21 shall transport alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle except in the scope of their employment or at the request of their parent. The penalties for illegal transportation are:
- 1st Offense 30 day license suspension and a fine of no more than $500
- 2nd Offense 90 day license suspension and a fine of not less than $200
- 3rd Offense one year license suspension and a fine of not less than $400.
Law enforcement is joined in the effort to deter underage drinking and driving while impaired by a well publicized law practice. High school seniors who want to enter the Arrive Alive Creative Contest have until May 24 to send their entry to: http://www.arrivealivecreativecontest.com/
First place winners receive a new laptop computer, second place winners receive a new iPad, and third and fourth place winners receive a new iPod. Everyone who enters the contest wins fun prizes from the Law Offices of Joe Bornstein (sponsor). It is our youth who hold the key to keeping memories good ones and an extra prize for a creative project would be a real bonus.
