Piscataquis Amateur Radio Club to Hold Annual Communications Field Day at Emergency Operations Center in Milo

June 25, 2011 - TRC - By George Dean, President, Piscataquis Amateur Radio Club

The Piscataquis Amateur Radio Club (PARC) will be participating in an annual American Radio Relay League communications exercise called "Field Day" from Saturday, June 25 at 1PM to Sunday, June 26 at 1PM.

PARC operators will be manning 2 transmitters; one on voice and one on Morse code for 24 hours straight. The object of this test is to show that ham radio operators can communicate all over the US and Canada, as well as many foreign countries in time of simulated disaster when normal means of communication are out of service.

We will be operating at the Piscataquis County Emergency Operations Center on Sargent Hill in Milo and the general public is invited to visit our operation from 3PM to 5PM on Saturday, June 25th.

We are collocated with the Meals on Wheels program and the National Weather Service Milo transmitter which can be heard on 162.550 MHz.
