Purple is the Color of Domestic Violence.
June 16, 2011 - TRC
In response to the recent tragic deaths in Dexter, Facebook members have set an event which is open to all to honor the memories of Amy, Cody and Monica Lake, promote awareness of Domestic Violence and honor DV victims everywhere. People who want to participate are asked to release a purple balloon on Saturday, June 18 at 5:00 p.m. Other suggestions for supporting the event include wearing purple, purple ribbons on vehicles, taking a few minutes at that time to talk to your children about DV, and saying a prayer for all the people it affects.
In Milo Valerie Robertson has announced she is releasing balloons in the Hobnobber parking lot and you are welcome to join the event there.
Everyone, everywhere, is invited to join in the Purple Balloon Release. We hope you will join us in whatever way you choose.
