MSAD 41 teachers lead clothing drive !

December 17, 2009 - TRC

This year the Kiwanis Secret Santa program has been overwhelmed with gift requests, particularly requests for clothing/outerwear*/bedding.

Another way we can help our neighbors is being made possible by MSAD 41 teachers, Rachel Bousquet and Katie Vail-Joyner, who have decided to head up a clothing drive and swap to help area folks meet their needs for these items.

Tuesday, December 22nd from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Milo Town Hall the drive and exchange will take place.

The Penquis Valley Key Club, Foxcroft Academy Varsity Girls Basketball Team, Lifejackets, and Penquis Mentors will sort and size the clothing. People can drop-off clothing, pick-up clothing, or swap out new for old.

In the meanwhile anyone wishing to donate clean, gently worn clothing with working zippers and all their buttons can drop them off in Room 13 of Penquis Valley High School or Room 209 in Penquis Valley Middle School on Thursday and Friday (December 17 and 18).

Saturday, Sunday and Monday drop-offs can take place at Hobnobbers Pub, 45 West Main Street, Milo.

Anyone wishing to drop clothes off Tuesday morning at the Milo Town Hall are welcome to do so.

Please spread the word and let's help some area children stay warm and dry this winter !

*A few additional resources. 1. The Penquis 'coat racks' are now also available to area people needing outerwear. 2. Penquis clients can come to the Dover-Foxcroft Penquis office at 50 North Street and be certified for discounts at St. Augustine's Thrift Shop too. 3. Some area churches maintain clothing banks year round.
