On Sunday, August 5th, the Brownville Community Church honored Violet Grant for her many years of service to the church by presenting her with the title Deacon Emeritus. Through the years Violet has taught Sunday school, sung in the choir, served as a deacon, worked on church suppers - too many to count, and assisted with other events that have taken place there.
Pastor Elizabeth Coffey stated that Violet is “the embodiment of the good and faithful servant.” Pastor Coffey referenced the many years of service given by both Violet and her husband noting that "there was no job too low or too big….In your humble and quiet way you carry the church’s history with you, and spread the love and compassion of Jesus in all that you do.”
Violet was presented with a corsage of daisies, a symbol of cheerfulness, and in addition each lady in the congregation received a daisy. In recognition of her service of so many years, Violet’s name will be added to the church’s plaque of those recognized for distinguished service to the Body of Christ.
Following the service, refreshments, including a cake in Violet’s honor, were enjoyed by all.
