News from B-BJ Historical Society and the Parish House Museum

What’s Been Going On?

The Society held its final meeting for 2017 on September 19th.

Within the next few weeks there will be a new HEAT PUMP  installed at the museum!  Thanks to all who donated to this cause! This will allow us to continue our work well into the fall!

We continue to document all the items in the museum with a program called PastPerfect. This is tedious and ongoing work but it is important to know just what we have and where it is located in the museum. It will make it easier to meet the needs of people looking for specific information in the future.

We have had a lot of visitors this summer including a gentleman from Wales searching for information about his ancestors – a task we were able to help him with!

THANKS to our regular volunteers not only for the “regular” hours they spend at the museum but for taking on additional tasks. THANKS also to the volunteers who help us with maintenance tasks on an "as needed" basis. We are most appreciative for the hours given to staff and maintain the museum, to keep our Facebook page up to date and interesting, to provide updates on and to produce our three newsletters each year.

AUTUMN NEWSLETTER will not be sent out until mid November. Become a member and get to enjoy the   entire newsletter!

More Than a Train Yard and a Whistle Stop is at the printers and we anticipate receipt of 200 copies (110 copies ALREADY sold!) by early October. Watch Facebook and TRCMaine to find out where you can pick up a copy. The cost is $25 (plus sales tax, of course). If you'd like to reserve a copy, contace Susan at 965-8070

The museum will close for the season at the end of September. Appointments to visit during the fall may be made by contacting Susan at 965-8070.
