|LAKELAND FL - Carroll David Hatt, 90, died Thursday, November 7, after living a long and eventful life surrounded by his three daughters, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Lakeland, Florida.|
Born on Christmas day, 1928 in Lagrange, Maine to Hilma and Herbert Hatt, Carroll was the youngest of five boys. He graduated from Patten Academy in 1947 and was proud to be part of the high schools' basketball team that went on to win the New England Championship against favored Boston Latin held at Boston Garden in 1947.
Carroll was honorably discharged from the US Air Force in 1950. Immediately following, he married the love of his life, Jeanne Dunham of Brewer, Maine, and they remained married for 66 years until her death in 2016. Together they raised five children in the Bangor area. He was a member of the Shriners, Masons, and the Order of the Eastern Star. In 1988, Carroll and Jeanne were the lucky winners of the Tri-State Megabucks lottery. Soon after, Carroll retired from Standard Electric Company. He and Jeanne then split their time between summers at Holbrook Pond, Holden, Maine and winters in Florida.
Carroll enjoyed telling stories, singing songs, telling jokes, writing poetry, cloud gazing, fishing and just being busy. There is not a person who has met him that doesn't have a funny positive Carroll Hatt story to share. He will be missed by many!
Carroll is predeceased by his wife Jeanne; his parents Hilma and Herbert Hatt; his brothers Gordon, Raymond, Herbert, and Clement; and his daughter Theresa (Terri) Hatt. He leaves behind his son David of Lakeland Florida; his daughters Wendy Howard of Lakeland Florida, Joanna and her husband Keith Dalton of Ludlow Massachusetts, and Aimee Hatt of Bangor, Maine. He also leaves behind grandchildren, great grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends
A Celebration of Life will be held at Holbrook Pond this coming summer.
