|MILFORD AND SEBEC - Katherine passed away peacefully on 5/14/2019 at her home after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was born 12/16/1939 in Milo, Maine, daughter of the late Reginald Towne and Beryl Parker Towne of Sebec.|
Sadly missed by her beloved husband, John Tweedie, Milford; children, Laura Lindsay McBreairty, Bangor and Larry Arthur Lindsay, Orrington; grandchildren Nicole, Lindsay and Ryan; and great-granddaughter, RaeLyn; her sister, Gayle Crowley, Bangor; and brother, Donald Towne of Bradley; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and special niece, Lisa Crowley of Cape Elizabeth. She also leaves her brother-in-law, Robert Tweedie, Pittsfield, and stepdaughters, Kim Tweedie, Rockland, and Kathi Blanchard, Toms River NJ and several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Katherine graduated from Higgins Classical Institute in 1957, and in recent years has reconnected with several of her Higgins friends, Sandy, Dottie, Irene, Betty and Jean, and they have spent many happy hours re-living old times.
Katherine was employed at the Viola Rand School in Bradley for 30 years as secretary and librarian. She and John have enjoyed many summers at Abol Bridge Campground, camping in the shadow of Mt Katahdin. Her passion was genealogy and she has done years of research on the family. She has been a long time member of the Towne family Association. Katherine has a long family history of gardening, going back to the 1600's in England and has shared her love of gardening with her sister, Gayle.
Please join us for a memorial service at the Milford Congregational Church on Monday, May 20, at 2 p.m., followed by a gathering at the church hall. Please join us later this summer at Katherine's request for singing songs and sowing seeds at a gravesite service in the Milford Cemetery. Date to be announced.
