|CAROLINA SHORES, NC (PREVIOUSLY MILO, ME) - Robert T. Zozus, Sr., passed away to our Lord on August 25, 2017 at UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas after a valiant battle with cancer.|
He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Genevieve Pyle and father, George Thomas Zozus of Asbury Park, NJ; a brother William A. Zozus, St Petersburg Fl and a sister, Doris M. Sarambo, Neptune NJ. He is survived by a brother, Thomas Zozus and his wife Ida, Punta Gorda, FL.
A resident of Carolina Shores, NC, Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Florence Louise Zozus; a son, Robert T. Zozus Jr. and daughter-in-law Meredith Nahm Zozus of Little Rock, AK; a daughter, Debra Lynn Zozus-Carini and son-in-law Mark Carini of Little River, SC and his treasured grandchildren Ryan Michael and Julie Lynn Carini, Little River, SC; and Jessica Ann and Atticus James Zozus, Little Rock, AK.
Robert was an honored veteran of the United States Air Force where he specialized in Airborne Electronics. During civilian life while in New Jersey, he was a market rep for American Oil, transitioning as a Consultant for Management Services supporting small business owners. He later owned and operated two gas stations and later decided to relocate to Milo, Maine to raise his family. He managed a large department store and later served as the Human Resources Personnel Manager. Eventually Robert purchased, owned and operated two small clothing department stores in Milo & Dover Foxcroft, ME. Once his family was grown, he made his way back to New Jersey and served as a Circulation Manager for a large newspaper.
Over the years he was active in many civic activities such as Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Town Chairman to the Board of Selectmen, Chairman of the Senior Citizens Housing Corp, and the Neighborhood Watch and Improvements Committee. Robert finally retired in Carolina Shores, NC to enjoy friends and family where he was heavily involved in his community and a philanthropist for multiple charitable organizations.
Robert’s love of family, easy humor and friendly spirit will be missed by all; family, friends and acquaintances alike. His family will keep his memory in their hearts forever.
