|MILO - William "Papa" Linwood London passed away peacefully on Aug. 21, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving wife and family.|
Born March 26, 1931, in Milo, to George Lee London and Annabelle (McLaughlin) London.
Bill left high school at the age of 17 to serve his country in the U.S. Army. He is a veteran of the Korean War where he received multiple awards including a Purple Heart.
After an honorable discharge from the Army, Bill worked on the B and A Railroad for three years and then worked at Great Northern Paper Mill for 35 years when he finally retired in 1987.
After retiring from the paper mill Bill proudly worked at the Milo Town Hall as a custodian and was a member of the Milo Fire Department, which he loved dearly. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Judith (Conlogue) London; two daughters, Leanne Bailey of Milo and Cindy Cowing of Ellsworth; and five grandchildren, Travis, Erynn and her husband, Brian, Kellen, Jordan and Ryan. He is also survived by the "light of his life" and his "honey bun" his three year old great-granddaughter, Karlee Elizabeth; three brothers, Larry London of Bangor and the mother of Larry's children, Jean London, Nelson London and his wife, Madeline, of Milo and Johnny London of Springfield; brother-in-law, Hazen Conlogue and wife, Wanda, of Brownville Junction, Wizzy Conlogue and wife, Cheryl, also of Brownville Junction; sister-in-law, Robbie Adams of Guilford; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his infant son; his parents; brother, Earl; and sister-in-law, Jackie.
A special thank you to Carissa, all the doctors and nurses, Dr. Gratwick's staff, Erin and Pastor Phil for all their support.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Milo Fire Department. At Bill's request there will be no services.
