Madeline (Dunham) Patterson, 93, died Nov. 1, 2007, at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness. She was born June 11, 1914, in Charleston, the oldest child of Henry and Ruth (Lassell) Dunham. She graduated from Higgins Classical Institute and attended Gilman Business School. Madeline married William Harley Patterson, July 3, 1942. She was formerly employed by the Pierce Insurance Agency and Yankee Grocer. She was a member of Corinth United Methodist Church and served on many boards and committees. Madeline enjoyed Couples Club/Hospitality Group, Meals for Friends and working on public suppers. She was a former director of Corinth Housing Corp. She was a grange member and a lifetime member of the Silver Leaf Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and held numerous offices. She also enjoyed being a member of Tri-Town Club.
She was recognized by the State of Maine with a Senior Citizen Volunteer Award and honored to be chosen as a co-marshall in the 2007 Corinth Old Home Day Parade. Madeline is survived by five children, Janette Jackson of Glen Burnie, Md., Norman and his partner, Diane Hodgkins, of Corinth, Eleanor and James Kidwell of Augusta, Marie and Stephen Gass of Encinitas, Calif., and Edward and his wife, Sharon, of Corinth; two sisters, Natalie Harris of Milo and Dorothy Minott of Ellsworth; a brother, Charles Dunham and his wife, Peggy, of Orange, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Carol Dunham of Corinth and Marjorie Dunham of Winterport; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their thanks to the cardiac care staff at St. Joseph Hospital.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Corinth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cynthia Nickerson officiating. Burial will be at Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth. The family invites relatives and friends to join them at the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall after the service to share food and fellowship.
