Isn’t it wonderful that we have finally reached the first day of spring after such a severe winter!!  Now if we can just get the weather to cooperate.  However, it is getting warmer little by little.  So now we can move on to the fun things.

Kathy’s new theme pick is ‘Look at What the Wind Blew In’.  Hopefully it will blow winter out.  This display features a variety of authors and titles with the word wind, of course.  Perhaps you can discover a new book to read.

We have a new class in our library regarding genealogy which was held on January 9th at 4 PM.  It was a free introductory class to genealogy research by John F. Balser.  The session covered the basics of how to research your family history using ancestorylibrary.com on the library computers.  This class will be offered throughout the year.  Mr. Balser also wrote an article about the class and posted it on the library’s web page which is www.milo.lib.me.us.  Anyone interested can contact us at the library.

We had the pleasure of having the author, Joan Calder from Santa Barbara, California visit us this week.  She spoke at the Milo Garden Club and the topic was monarch butterflies.  She is also a horticulturist and garden designer. She travels the U.S. to educate the public about monarch migration and the importance of preserving their habitat.  Joan donated a children’s book that she signed to the Milo Library called Airplanes in the Garden which was published in 2011.  It tells of the monarch’s beginnings as an egg through the butterfly stage.  The story is awesome.  The watercolor illustrations by Cathy Quiel are beautiful.  Thank you, Joan.
