Brownville Dog Days of Winter

5th Annual
Brownville - KI and Beyond Sled Dog Race
& Dog Days of Winter

SATURDAY, JANUARY 25, 2014

RACE UPDATE - 1/18

Due to all the recent rain and logging operations, the following is a description of the trail.

The 30-mile race will be restricted to 8 dogs. The 20-mile race will be restricted to 6 dogs.

The entire trail will be on the rail bed which is currently flat, hard, fast, and granular surface. However, in the next 24 hours, we should receive 1-3 inches of new snow which will fix the granular part. The race course will start on Railroad Avenue, Brownville Junction as usual, travel north toward Katahdin Iron Works (KI) and will turn in a gravel pit approximately 75 yards around the loop. 20-mile racers will return south directly to the start line. 30-mile racers will return to Front Street, do another loop and travel back north 5 miles to Houston Brook, do a third loop, and then home.

With all these loops and fun runners, you should expect a lot of opportunities for head on passes.

Call Gary and Joan at 207.965.8763 to pre-register for the race.
